Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. She released her first EP for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. In 2015, she was featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time and wanted her to work on Rihanna references. The announcement that she would be signed to Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. The album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the song Backseat along with Cozz. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she appeared on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas in Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. Then, in November, she released two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been watched over three million times over the first 7 days. In support of the track, she toured with 6LACK in December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
